Leibniz Bicycle Tour

Description

This city tour invites you to experience Hannover from a unique perspective—through the life and thought of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. His name can be encountered throughout the city and, to this day, stands for curiosity, knowledge, and the quest for the fundamental connections that bind the world together.

At various stops along the way, you will witness how a highly gifted child evolved into one of Europe’s most influential thinkers. Along the way, you will encounter not only fascinating biographical insights but also surprisingly vivid concepts drawn from the realms of mathematics, philosophy, and science.

Sites such as the Leibnizhaus, the Leineschloss, the Neustädter Hof- und Stadtkirche St. Johannis, the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Library, the Leibniz Temple, and the University provide the backdrop for stories of a dynamic life lived at the intersection of research, politics, and European exchange. Discover, for instance, a replica of the very first mechanical calculator capable of performing the four basic arithmetic operations.

Without giving too much away: This tour reveals why Leibniz was not merely a man of his time, but continues to shape our world to this day—often in ways one would never suspect at first glance.

Along the route, there is a special stop where you can enjoy a refreshing beverage (included in the price).
